Pink Dilla

Archive for February, 2008

As of February of this year more and more non painted items, especially paper products are pouring in to the Recalled section of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website. PLEASE, I am really concerned that you or someone you know has some of these seemingly harmless games and children’s items in their home. I urge all parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles to check out the CPSC site Monthly to try and keep those kiddos safe and healthy. Some of the newest recalled products may be lurking under beds or on your shelves are things we thought would be fun and enjoyable for our kids and yet they are deadly! Where are these deadly products streaming in from…China, the country that has no scruples when it comes to injuring their own countrymen but worse than that injuring and murdering our innocent children. We have to be aggressive in actively protecting our kids. We also need to force our government into higher standards of practice for foreign commerce.

  • Periphery Memory Album Page

    I have fallen in love with the new Periphery 12×12 papers by Basic Grey! They are vintage inspired and have delicate florals and distressing around the edges! Not to mention all of the birds! I used some adorable pictures of my kids I took while they were playing around in the car for my page. I also accented the page with vintage french ribbon and Amy Butler Lime paper for the background. I can’t get enough of there cute faces but they seem melancholy in the photos so the subdued coloring of the paper fit the mood!

    Hope

    Hope is the thing with feathers
    That perches in the soul,
    And sings the tune -without the words,
    And never stops at all,

    And sweetest in the gale is heard;
    And sore must be the storm
    That could abash the little bird
    That kept so many warm.

    I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
    And on the strangest sea;
    Yet, never, in extremity,
    It asked a crumb of me.

    Emily Dickinson~

    I really cherish a poetry book my sister, Amy, gave me when I was a teen and one of those favorite poems was Hope by Emily Dickinson. My dad even gave me a birthday card one year with this poem on it and I still have it to this day! I am really glad that my husband got a great job last week closer to home, we were really holding on to the hope that he would be able to spend more time with the family and that prayer was answered last week! I do think Hope is sweeter in the storm because you hold on tighter to it and it becomes much more to us!

  • A whole lot of Scraps!

    I just love saving my memory album paper because a whole lot of scraps turn into some really cute and recycled cards! I used some left over S.E.I. Penelopes Potpourri paper, Splendid Scrolls and some Amy Butler Belle paper and topped them off with buttons, brads and Chatterbox Embellishment kit stickers from the olive set. I hope your week is filled with Peace, love and Card making!
