Happy Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a romantic day, even though that is really nice, it can be day to cherish those in your life! These were some of the cards I got to make and send this Valentine’s Day for our service women and men. I great big hug to them and their families. For My Angel Card I used-
1. 4.5 x 6″ card
2. Pink heart paper and Red doilies
3.Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue™
4. Black Wall paper and Stampin’ Up paper for the Hearts
5. Creative Memories Heart Paper Punches
6. Heidi Swapp White paint
I glued everything down with a small amount of Tacky glue. I folded a doily in half for the front of the card and accented with White Scrapbooking paint.

It’s not only a special time of year to celebrate love, it’s also time for Cards for Soldiers. We appreciate and honor our service women and men every year with cards for soldiers. Valentine’s Day is the perfect way to share the love and admiration. For my cards I got to play with decorative heart punches. It’s fun to layer the papers and punch random hearts! It’s even better to use double sided papers so you get more options. A Great way to use up small scraps. And don’t through away any extra hearts use them for confetti! Here are a few of my supplies-
1) 4.5″ by 6″ card, I usually make my own
2) A German Dresden Scrap angel and an Art Chix Flourish Postage image
3) Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue™, it only takes a small amount and you want to smooth it out when applying.
4) Creative Memories Heart punches
5) Black paper from Stampin’ UP and Red paper from Close to My Heart.
6) Vintage sheet music scraps and red valentine heart for accents

This week has flown by with Valentine’s Day, sick kiddos, shopping with my sister, and having to get new tires on our truck, I’m just now able to post the rest of my handmade cards and cards for soldiers! I’ve had fun making custom cards too like the one of a kind 5×7 Princess crown card for my sister, they are so pretty to wear or display. Last week, I posted a few handmade cards and paperdolls into online contests. You can check out my Martha Stewart entry HERE. And my Papercraft magazine February Gallery challenge entry HERE.

Claire Selby handmade Valentine's Day Cards
I can’t believe February is already here, (I can’t believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day for that matter) and for 2011 my handmade cards for Soldiers are going in the mail again. This time I was able to make cards using Amy Butler Lotus Specialty paper, Stampin’ Up Real Red paper, vintage valentine images from Collage Stuff and rubber stamps, Sisters from Stampington, Robe de Partie from Character Constructions and a few retired Artchix Studio stamps. I hope they are enjoyed as I enjoyed making them! Hugs

I feel so proud of the women and men fighting for our country right now, I put together a care package and got to make some cards for them! What a privilege and a pleasure to be able to send them a little piece of my work, my handmade cards. I only ever make one of each card design, an original, never to be made the same again. So, each is a real special piece to me, they are all unique! Thank God for the soldiers that serve our nation giving up so much of themselves, their free time with friends, children and family. They deserve to be honored, and treasured! I just wish I could do more
